Welcome Welcome!!

YEAHHH BUDDY!

So I’ve wanted to start a food-based blog for years now, and I’m excited to introduce you all to Hopefully Healthy. I can blame my obsession with cooking on my parents. I was blessed to grow up in a house where my mom’s home-cooked meals were eaten as a family at the kitchen table. I truly believe this tradition is one that is overlooked in society today. After dinner, my sister and I joined our dad in watching the Food Network. I remember him screaming, “BAM!” all night while watching Emeril reruns. Today, I am obsessed with the channel, especially my favorite, Giada at Home.

Once I got married, I really wanted to keep the tradition of cooking and eating together alive. Frank, my husband, was also raised by an amazing cook. I started cooking recipes that my mom made and those that I saw on the Food Network…and then I got fat. Yeah, I know, lots of people say that’s what happens when you get married…but SERIOUSLY?! The recipes from my childhood were no longer going to cut it. I started to tweak old favorites and tried to avoid certain styles, especially those containing the two evil words, “cream of”. I really started to enjoy cooking and surprised many friends and family with my mad skills ;). Many have asked for my recipes, and I always love to share…so here I am.

I do not count calories, and I’m not on a “diet”, but I do try to avoid gluten, red meat, and high-calorie dishes when possible. I can’t promise that everything on this blog will be healthy, but hey, everything in moderation right?! I’ll prove that cooking at home is EASY, and your family will actually prefer it over nasty take out. My goal is that twenty and thirty-somethings, like me, see the advantages of cooking healthy meals at home! I’ll keep it light-hearted, practical, and ‘hopefully healthy’. So get your hands dirty and let’s start cooking!!
